Get specific – I´d love to know what frustrates you most in affiliate marketing
Mine is simply the constant push for greater numbers of visitors to websites and conversions. I’m a firm believer that if you can develop more great content, it’ll go a long way towards making your marketing a success but is that the truth about affiliate marketing?, It’s not the quantity that frustrates me, it’s the quality!
I hate to be a killjoy but I just can’t get behind strategies and techniques that I have no use for myself. This all comes back to the concept of specific goal setting. If you want results and you have an online marketing business, then you need to decide what you want to happen after the fact. By doing so, you can then take that desired outcome and work towards it.
My first big failure with strategy was clearly the video. I created a video (I think it was 2 hours) and I was so caught up in getting people to watch it, I had no idea if it was going to convert at all. The results of the video were extremely poor. It had some really nice qualities: it got me seen, but, it didn’t get me ANYbodies business.
My second major fail was affiliate marketing. What I did was, I would build a list by offering free training to people in exchange for their contact details. I’d send them out offers and they’d join my mailing list. So I was getting people to sign up for my list, but, I was getting no sign ups for my affiliates. This was a total waste of time and energy. So, I’d get all these members but no sign ups for my business. So, I’d end up getting these members, but, no income from them.
I came up with a system to stop this from happening. I’d set up a new squeeze page where I’d offer these members a free trial of the software I’d publish. Once I got them to decide to sign up, I’d build my list and… the results would be fantastic. I would get sign ups and I would get sales.
But, my biggest failure in terms of online marketing was the fact that I went into my online business with no knowledge in how to attract visitors to my website. I had no idea. It took me a long time to learn and then I’d get traffic but… I would get NO sales.
I don’t mean NO sales. I mean no sales at all. I would get NO sales at all. This is where most people quit. They go buy some guide on affiliate marketing, find a product that has a good monthly income and they would become instant millionaires.
Now, if you’re like me, you will see the problem with that. With no sales you are less likely to spend money on the product. Now, I am not saying that articles don’t work. I am just saying that if you’re looking for a quick and easy way to make a lot of money, then articles are probably not your best bet.
But, if you have a lot of knowledge on what works and what doesn’t work, then you could start buying product after product after product… and you would be on your way to becoming a product millionaire.
See, when you start out, you will be going into a massive arena where there is a ton of competition. But, you can learn the ways of the trade so to speak. And when you have done that, then you could build your business into a trillion dollar business without spending a dime.
It’s actually quite simple. If you don’t have a million dollars of knowledge, you can get by without a million dollars of marketing prowess. They are two different things. But, if you have a good product… a solid product… and a list of happy customers, then you can easily make millions… and can build a trillion dollar empire.
What I am trying to say is don’t get discouraged if you get a new product or new campaign or new system that doesn’t work right away. You can also tweak it, change it, adjust it and get the results you want. After all, we all tried things that didn’t work so why not put it to use that works and make money and be happy.
